Ghost

A ghost, according to folklore, is the spirit or soul of a deceased person or animal believed to manifest to the living. Ghostlore describes ghosts in diverse forms, ranging from invisible presences to translucent shapes or lifelike appearances. The practice of attempting to communicate with the spirits of the dead is known as necromancy or, within spiritism, as a séance. Various terms are associated with ghosts, including apparition, haunt, phantom, poltergeist, shade, specter, spirit, spook, wraith, demon, and ghoul.
