1947: Aleppo Codex Removed During Riots

During riots in 1947, the Aleppo Codex was removed from its location. Subsequently, about 40% of the codex was lost.

1993: Discovery of the Tel Dan Stele

In 1993, archaeologist Avraham Biran unearthed a fragmentary Aramaic inscription, the Tel Dan stele, at Tel Dan. This stele, dated to the late ninth or early eighth century BCE, mentions a "king of Israel" as well as a "house of David".
