History of Chicago Marathon in Timeline
The Chicago Marathon is a major road race held annually in Chicago, Illinois, in October. As one of the World Marathon Majors, it attracts a large number of participants and is recognized as a World Athletics Label Road Race. It is one of the largest marathons in the world by number of finishers. In 2024, the Chicago Marathon was awarded the World Athletics Heritage Plaque, acknowledging its significant role in the history and development of road running.
