Hurricane Heather, the fourth hurricane of the 1977 Pacific hurricane season, formed as a tropical disturbance off the coast of Mexico on October 3rd. By October 5th, it reached hurricane status with peak winds of 85 mph. Heather then turned north-northwest and began to weaken over cooler waters. On October 6, it was downgraded to a tropical storm, and by October 7, it was classified as a tropical depression. Despite its weakening, Hurricane Heather was one of the worst cyclones to affect Arizona.
