Hurricane Heather, the fourth hurricane of the 1977 Pacific hurricane season, formed as a tropical disturbance off the coast of Mexico on October 3rd. By October 5th, it reached hurricane status with peak winds of 85 mph. Heather then turned north-northwest and began to weaken over cooler waters. On October 6, it was downgraded to a tropical storm, and by October 7, it was classified as a tropical depression. Despite its weakening, Hurricane Heather was one of the worst cyclones to affect Arizona.
Tropical Storm Moke approaches Hawaii, bringing threats of heavy rainfall and strong winds. Honolulu emergency officials remain vigilant and hopeful for minimal impacts as the island prepares for potential severe weather during the 2026 hurricane season.
