The Japan Open is an annual international figure skating team competition held in Japan each autumn, organized by the Japan Skating Federation. Initially an individual competition (1997-2001) across all disciplines, it transitioned to its current team format in 2006. Skaters, competing in men's and women's singles, perform only a free program. Individual scores are then aggregated to determine the overall team standings, showcasing a blend of individual skill contributing to a collective team result.
