Pittsburgh–Syracuse football rivalry

The Pittsburgh–Syracuse football rivalry is a college football game played annually between the Pittsburgh Panthers and Syracuse Orange. Dating back to 1916, the rivalry has been consistently played since 1955. Both teams, formerly Eastern football independents, have been conference-mates since 1991, first in the Big East and later in the ACC. As ACC cross-divisional opponents and now primary opponents, their annual meeting is ensured. Pittsburgh leads the all-time series 44-32-3. Syracuse is Pitt's third most-played opponent, and Pitt is Syracuse's most-played opponent.
