Ray Lane was an American sportscaster hailing from Detroit, Michigan. He actively participated in baseball and basketball during his high school years at Mackenzie High School in the late 1940s. Continuing his athletic pursuits, Lane enrolled at Michigan State University in 1949. While pursuing a bachelor's degree in communications, he also played baseball for the Michigan State Spartans. Thus establishing his foundation as a sportscaster.
