History of Canyon Lake, California in Timeline
Canyon Lake is a city and gated community in Riverside County, California, centered around Canyon Lake reservoir. Developed as a master-planned community starting in 1968, it was officially incorporated as a city on December 1, 1990. The reservoir, formed by the Railroad Canyon Dam built in 1927 on the San Jacinto River, spans 383 acres with nearly 15 miles of shoreline.
