On December 12, 1943, Forrest Richard "Dickey" Betts, an American guitarist, singer, songwriter, and composer, was born in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Dickey Betts formed the band Second Coming with Berry Oakley in 1967.
In 1969, Duane Allman secured a contract, and the Allman Brothers Band was formed, eventually including Duane's brother Gregg, Betts, and Oakley.
After Duane Allman's death in October 1971, Betts became the sole guitarist for the Allman Brothers Band, taking on a larger role. He also wrote "Jessica", inspired by his daughter.
