Dorothea Wierer is a highly accomplished Italian biathlete competing in the Biathlon World Cup. She secured a bronze medal in the Mixed relay at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics and the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. In 2022, she won her first individual Olympic medal in the Sprint at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Wierer is also the 2019 Mass Start World Champion and the 2020 Pursuit and Individual World Champion, establishing herself as one of the top biathletes in the world.

At the start of the 2015–16 season, Dorothea Wierer recorded the first win in her career in the Biathlon World Cup in Östersund.
In 2018, at the Winter Olympics held in Pyeongchang, South Korea, Dorothea Wierer, together with Lisa Vittozzi, Lukas Hofer, and Dominik Windisch, secured another bronze medal in the Mixed relay.
In 2018–19, Dorothea Wierer won the Overall World Cup, becoming the first Italian to achieve this feat, including men.
In February 2019, Dorothea Wierer became the third biathlete, after Martin Fourcade and Marie Dorin Habert, to achieve a victory in every biathlon discipline.
At the 2019 Championships in Östersund, Dorothea Wierer won the gold medal in the 12.5 km Mass Start, also a first for Italian women in Biathlon.
Dorothea Wierer defended the overall title in the 2019–20 Season, becoming the first woman to do so since Magdalena Forsberg in 2001/02.
