The Ecuador national football team, known as La Tricolor, represents Ecuador in international men's football. The team is governed by the Federación Ecuatoriana de Fútbol (FEF). Ecuador became a member of FIFA in 1926 and joined CONMEBOL in 1927. They have qualified for the FIFA World Cup four times in 2002, 2006, 2014 and 2022. Their best performance was in 2006, reaching the round of 16. While historically not among South America's strongest teams, Ecuador has shown increasing competitiveness in recent years and regularly participates in the Copa América.
