History of Fort Stewart in Timeline
Fort Stewart is a U.S. Army post primarily located in Liberty and Bryan counties in Georgia, also extending into Evans, Long, and Tattnall counties. Hinesville, along with Fort Stewart and Liberty and Long Counties, constitutes the Hinesville metropolitan area. A significant portion of Fort Stewart's population consists of members of the 3rd Infantry Division, making it a major military installation.
