A funeral director, also called an undertaker or mortician, is a licensed professional who manages funeral rites. Their duties encompass embalming, arranging burial or cremation, and organizing the funeral ceremony. They may also be responsible for dressing, casketing, and cossetting the deceased, provided they have the necessary licenses. Funeral directors can be employed by a funeral home or work independently.
