John Ritter was an American actor and comedian, most famously known for his role as Jack Tripper in the sitcom *Three's Company* (1977-1984). He received both a Primetime Emmy Award and a Golden Globe Award for his performance in 1984. He was the son of actor Tex Ritter and father to actors Jason and Tyler Ritter. Ritter briefly reprised his Jack Tripper role in the spin-off *Three's a Crowd*.
