Ssireum

Ssireum, also known as Korean wrestling, is a traditional national sport of Korea with roots tracing back to the fourth century. It's a folk wrestling style where the objective is to make any part of the opponent's body above the knee touch the ground. Competitions take place within a sand pit, and wrestlers wear a 'satba,' a fabric belt, providing grip and leverage. Beyond a sport, Ssireum is deeply ingrained in Korean culture, often associated with festivals and community gatherings. Recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, Ssireum embodies Korean identity and traditions.
