The USS Stockdale (DDG-106) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer named after Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale. Authorized in 2002 and built by Bath Iron Works, it's the 56th destroyer of its class. Christened in 2008 by Stockdale's widow, Sybil, and delivered to the Navy later that year, it transited the Panama Canal with Stockdale's family in 2009. The ship was commissioned on April 18, 2009, at Port Hueneme.
