Adam Wainwright, nicknamed "Waino" and "Uncle Charlie", is a retired American professional baseball pitcher. He played his entire 18-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the St. Louis Cardinals. Known for his curveball, affectionately called "Uncle Charlie", Wainwright achieved significant success, becoming a cornerstone of the Cardinals' pitching staff for nearly two decades. He contributed to multiple playoff runs and a World Series championship in 2006. Wainwright was highly regarded for his durability, consistency, and leadership both on and off the field. He retired in 2023 as one of the most beloved and accomplished players in Cardinals franchise history.
