Aroostook War

The Aroostook War (1838-1839), also known as the Madawaska War, was a dispute between the United States and the United Kingdom over the boundary between Maine and New Brunswick. Despite the name, it was largely a bloodless confrontation, with local militias mobilized but no significant combat occurring. It's more accurately described as an international incident rather than a full-scale war. The conflict stemmed from unresolved border issues following the American Revolution and involved competing claims over valuable timber resources in the Aroostook River valley.
