Benjamin Hall, 1st Baron Llanover, was a prominent Whig/Liberal politician who significantly contributed to social, church, health, and local government reforms. He served in the House of Commons from 1831 until 1859, later being elevated to the peerage. As President of the Board of Health (1854-1855) and First Commissioner of Public Works (until 1858), he held significant ministerial positions under Lords Aberdeen and Palmerston.
