David Muir

David Muir is a prominent American journalist and news anchor. He is best known for anchoring ABC World News Tonight, a position he has held since succeeding Diane Sawyer in 2014. Muir also co-anchors the ABC News magazine 20/20. His work is based in New York City as part of the ABC broadcast-television network's news division. Before becoming the primary anchor, Muir served as the weekend anchor and primary substitute anchor for World News Tonight.


1995: Reporting from Israel and Gaza

In 1995, David Muir's reports from Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Israel, and the Gaza Strip following the assassination of Israeli prime minister Yitzhak Rabin earned him top honors from the Radio-Television News Directors Association.
