CNN News18 is an Indian English-language news channel based in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Founded by Raghav Bahl, it is co-owned by Network18 Group and Warner Bros. Discovery. CNN provides international news coverage, while Indian Broadcasting Network focuses on Indian and local news stories.

December 2005: CNN-IBN Launched in India

On December 18, 2005, Turner Broadcasting System and Global Broadcast News (TV18 Broadcast Limited) launched CNN-IBN in India. TV18 Broadcast Limited ran the channel, utilizing the Cable News Network (CNN) brand name.

August 2011: CAG report on Commonwealth Games tabled

On August 5, 2011, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India's report on the 2010 Commonwealth Games was presented in the Parliament of India, alleging that CNN-IBN and NDTV were arbitrarily awarded contracts worth Rs 37.8 million for CWG-2010 commercials.

January 2012: Reliance Industries invests in Network18

In January 2012, Reliance Industries began investing in Network18, gaining indirect control of the TV18 network.

November 2012: Edited interview broadcast as live debate

In November 2012, CNN-IBN broadcast a pre-recorded and edited interview of Ravi Shankar on 'Face The Nation', falsely presenting it as a live television debate. The anchor, Sagarika Ghose, apologized publicly.

December 2015: Brand licensing renewed

On December 1, 2015, it was announced that the brand licensing agreement between Turner Broadcasting and Network 18 had been renewed for another term.

January 2016: Licensing agreement expiration

In January 2016, the licensing agreement between Turner Broadcasting and Network 18 was set to expire, as announced in 2015.

April 2016: Rebranded as CNN-News18

On April 18, 2016, CNN-IBN was rebranded as CNN-News18 and adopted the slogan "On Your Side".
