The Charlotte Fire Department (CFD) serves the city of Charlotte, North Carolina, providing a wide array of critical services. These encompass fire suppression, emergency medical assistance, technical rescue, hazardous materials management, disaster response, code enforcement, fire investigations, and public education. CFD is responsible for a 312-square-mile area with a large daily population.

The fire crew, unaware of the metallic sodium stored in a vat assumed to contain kerosene, attempted to suppress the fire with water, resulting in an explosion. This incident highlighted the need for clear labeling of hazardous materials.
As of March 2025, a current list of stations and apparatus for the department was recorded.
