Christian Mitchell is an American politician and university administrator. He served as a Democratic member of the Illinois House of Representatives for the 26th district from 2013 to 2019. Notably, he became the first African-American executive director of the Democratic Party of Illinois in 2018. Following his legislative service, Mitchell was Deputy Governor in J.B. Pritzker's administration from 2019 to 2023. Currently, he is the Vice President for Civic Engagement at the University of Chicago, transitioning into higher education administration.
