Dolomites

The Dolomites, also known as the Pale Mountains, are a mountain range in northeastern Italy, part of the Southern Limestone Alps. They stretch from the Adige River in the west to the Piave Valley in the east, bordered by the Puster Valley and Sugana Valley to the north and south. The Dolomites span the regions of Veneto, Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, and Friuli-Venezia Giulia, encompassing the provinces of Belluno, Vicenza, Verona, Trentino, South Tyrol, Udine, and Pordenone.

June 2009: Dolomites declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site

On June 26, 2009, the Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, recognizing their unique geological and scenic value.
