Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) is an Indian company, a subsidiary of Reliance, that operates the Indian Super League (ISL), India's top-tier football league. FSDL also functions as the commercial partner of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), highlighting its crucial role in the development and commercialization of football in India.

December 2010: AIFF signs deal with Reliance and IMG

In December 2010, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) signed a 15-year, 700-crore deal with Reliance Industries and the International Management Group to form a new professional league for the development of Indian football.

October 2013: Indian Super League founded

In October 2013, the Indian Super League was founded by IMG–Reliance, along with All India Football Federation and STAR Sports. The league's goal was to make football a top sport in India, modeled after the Indian Premier League and Major League Soccer.

June 2021: New developmental league proposed

In June 2021, it was proposed after a meeting with the CEOs of all the ISL clubs, that a new developmental league, called Reliance Foundation Development League, would be introduced in 2022. This league would consist of youth and reserve teams of all the ISL clubs.

2022: Reliance Foundation Development League held

In 2022, the Reliance Foundation Development League inaugural season was held with seven ISL clubs and Reliance Foundation Youth Champs football team participating. Bengaluru topped the table and became the inaugural champions. Bengaluru and Kerala Blasters qualified for Premier League's NextGen Cup 2022 in the UK as the top two teams.
