History of Islanders–Rangers rivalry in Timeline
The Islanders–Rangers rivalry, also called the Battle of New York, is a prominent NHL rivalry between the New York Islanders and the New York Rangers. The Rangers play in Manhattan, while the Islanders play in Nassau County on Long Island. They are two of three NHL teams in the New York metropolitan area, the third being the New Jersey Devils. The rivalry is fueled by geographical proximity and competition within the New York hockey market.
