JJ Wetherholt is an American professional baseball infielder. He was drafted in the first round of the 2024 MLB draft by the St. Louis Cardinals and made his MLB debut in 2026. He plays infielder for the Cardinals.

In 2021, JJ Wetherholt went undrafted in the Major League Baseball draft and subsequently enrolled at West Virginia University to play baseball for the Mountaineers.
In 2022, during his freshman year at West Virginia University, JJ Wetherholt played in 54 games, starting in 53. He achieved a .308 batting average, hitting five home runs and recording 39 RBIs, 17 doubles, and 15 stolen bases. He also played 12 games for the Madison Mallards hitting .368.
In 2023, during his sophomore year, JJ Wetherholt gained national attention after playing 55 games batting .449 with 16 home runs, 60 RBIs, and 36 stolen bases. He was named one of the five finalists for the Dick Howser Trophy and was also named the Big 12 Conference Baseball Player of the Year. Following the 2023 season, he played collegiate summer baseball for the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod Baseball League and also played for the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
On July 20, 2024, JJ Wetherholt signed a $6.8 million contract with the St. Louis Cardinals after being selected in the first round of the 2024 Major League Baseball draft.
In 2024, JJ Wetherholt injured his hamstring four games into the season and missed over a month. In 36 games, he batted .331 with eight home runs and 30 RBIs.
In 2024, after signing with the Cardinals, JJ Wetherholt was assigned to the rookie-league Florida Complex League Cardinals roster on July 23 and was then quickly promoted to Single-A Palm Beach Cardinals of the Florida State League on July 30. He was named the Florida State League player of the week from September 2–9. He also helped Palm Beach win their first Florida State league title since 2017. For the season, Wetherholt hit .295 with two home runs and twenty RBI over 29 games.
On July 8, 2025, JJ Wetherholt was promoted to the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds of the International League.
On March 23, 2026, the Cardinals announced that JJ Wetherholt had made the team's Opening Day roster.
On March 26, 2026, JJ Wetherholt made his MLB debut for the Cardinals during their season home opener versus the Tampa Bay Rays, starting at second base and batting in the leadoff spot. He hit his first MLB hit in the third inning against Drew Rasmussen, a solo home run.
