Kristen Santos-Griswold is a prominent American short-track speed skater who has achieved significant success in the sport. She has represented the United States in numerous international competitions, including the Winter Olympics. In 2013, Santos entered her first professional competition.
In early 2014, Santos entered the US Olympic qualifying tournament but failed to qualify for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Russia.
In 2015, Kristen Santos participated in her first World Cup in Dresden, racing the 500 and 1500 meters. A few days later in 2015, she took part in the Winter Universiade for the United States.
In February 2019, Kristen Santos reached her first World Cup podium. She won bronze in Turin with the mixed relay team, including Aaron Tran, Jonathan So, and Maame Biney.
In 2021, Kristen Santos experienced a breakthrough, finishing eighth in the final standings at the World Championships in Dordrecht. She also placed second in the 2021–22 World Cup final standings. She qualified for her first Olympics.
In 2023, Kristen Santos won three gold medals at the Four Continents Short Track Speed Skating Championships in the 500 meters, 1000 meters, and 1500 meters, as well as a silver medal in the 2000 meter mixed relay. In 2023, she also became the first American female short track speed skater to win a World Cup 500m race.
In 2024, Kristen Santos won five medals at the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships, including gold in the 1000 meters, silver in the 1500 meters and 3000 meter relay, and bronze in the 500 meters and 2000 meter mixed relay.
In 2024, Kristen Santos won her first World Cup 1500m race, becoming the first female U.S. short track speed skater to win in all three distances in the circuit's history.
In the 2024–25 season, Kristen Santos won the Crystal Globe for best overall skater of the World Tour.
