August 3, 1950: Waegwan Bridge Explosion

On August 3, 1950, the bridge at Waegwan was blown up to halt the North Korean advance on Daegu during the Korean War. Tragically, many South Korean refugees died in the explosion.

March 14, 1991: First Phenol Leak into Nakdong River

On March 14, 1991, thirty tons of phenol leaked into the Nakdong River from Doosan Electronics, contaminating the water supply for Daegu.
