Prince

A prince is a male ruler or a male member of a monarch's family. It's a title of nobility, often hereditary, found in some European countries. The female equivalent is princess. The word "prince" comes from the Latin term "prīnceps," meaning "the first, foremost, the chief, most distinguished, noble ruler."

1947: Dissolution of the Empire

In 1947, the British Colonial Era empire was dissolved.

1949: Accession to India and Pakistan

Between 1947 and 1949, the princely states acceded to the newly formed Union of India and the Dominion of Pakistan.
