Russia is a town located in Herkimer County, New York, in the northwestern part of the county, northeast of Utica. According to the 2020 census, the population was 2,269, a decrease from 2,587 in 2010.
In 2000, the census recorded 2,487 people, 993 households, and 707 families residing in the town. The racial makeup of the town was 97.75% White, 0.32% African American, 0.56% Native American, 0.72% Asian, 0.12% from other races, and 0.52% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.44% of the population.
