Swing state

In United States politics, swing states are those where the outcome of an election, particularly presidential elections, is uncertain and could reasonably be won by either the Democratic or Republican candidate. These states are heavily targeted by both major parties during campaigns. States that consistently favor one party are considered "safe states." For the 2024 presidential election, Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin were widely identified as crucial swing states.
