The USS Michael Monsoor (DDG-1001) is the second of three Zumwalt-class guided missile destroyers. These ships were initially designed for land attack and littoral operations, equipped with Advanced Gun Systems (AGS). However, due to the cancellation of the AGS ammunition program, the ship's primary mission has shifted to surface warfare.
