History of XO, Kitty in Timeline
XO, Kitty is a Netflix romantic comedy-drama series created by Jenny Han, spun off from the To All the Boys film series. Premiering in May 2023, it's the first Netflix TV series derived from a Netflix original film. Han also writes, executive produces, and showruns. Anna Cathcart reprises her role as Kitty Song Covey, a high schooler embarking on her own quest for love. The show has garnered positive critical reception.
March 2021: XO, Kitty Spin-off Announced
In March 2021, a spin-off series to To All the Boys, titled XO, Kitty, was announced to be in development. Each episode was planned to be a half-hour romantic comedy.
April 5, 2022: Casting Announcement and Production Start
On April 5, 2022, the main cast for XO, Kitty was announced, including Choi Min-yeong, Anthony Keyvan, Gia Kim, Sang Heon Lee, Peter Thurnwald, and Regan Aliyah. Production for the series began in Seoul on this date. An interesting fact is that Gia Kim and Sang Heon Lee, who play Yuri and Min Ho respectively, are siblings in real life.
