Capybara

The capybara, or greater capybara, is the world's largest living rodent, indigenous to South America. Belonging to the genus Hydrochoerus, its relatives include guinea pigs, rock cavies, and more distantly, the agouti, chinchilla, and nutria. Capybaras thrive in savannas and dense forests, typically near water sources. Known for their social behavior, they live in groups ranging from 10 to 20 individuals, though larger groups are possible. They are hunted for their meat, hide, and the grease derived from their thick, fatty skin.
