Felix Baumgartner

Felix Baumgartner is an Austrian skydiver and BASE jumper, most famous for his record-breaking stratospheric jump on October 14, 2012, as part of the Red Bull Stratos project. He jumped from a helium balloon approximately 39 km above New Mexico, setting records for skydiving altitude and speed, reaching Mach 1.25 and becoming the first person to break the sound barrier in freefall. While he initially held the record for the highest exit altitude, it was later surpassed, but he still holds the records for vertical freefall distance and speed without a drogue parachute.
