July 10, 2018: Fire at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds
On July 10, 2018, a fire devastated the sheep and beef cattle barns at the Fryeburg Fairgrounds, resulting in their complete destruction and damage to six other buildings. Despite this setback, the fair proceeded that year, with exhibitors utilizing temporary housing for their animals.
2019: New Barns at the Fryeburg Fair
In 2019, new barns were constructed and put into use at the Fryeburg Fair, replacing those destroyed by the fire on July 10, 2018.
