James Bond 007: Nightfire, released in 2002, is a first-person shooter game developed by different studios for various platforms (GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox, Windows, Game Boy Advance, and Mac OS X). The console versions were developed by Eurocom, the Windows version by Gearbox Software, and the Game Boy Advance version by JV Games. The Windows version has a modified storyline, different missions, and lacks the driving sections present in the console versions. It was published by Electronic Arts.
In 1964, the film Goldfinger was released, and a stage based on Fort Knox from that film was included in the multiplayer mode of Nightfire.
In 1977, the film The Spy Who Loved Me was released, and a stage based on Atlantis from that film was included in the multiplayer mode of Nightfire.
In September 2000, development began on the game that would become James Bond 007: Nightfire.
In May 2001, the game was officially announced as James Bond 007.
By February 2002, the working title for the game was James Bond in... Phoenix Rising.
In July 2002, Pierce Brosnan's head was scanned to create the player character, voiced by Maxwell Caulfield. Michael Ensign voiced Raphael Drake, Jeanne Mori replaced Sydney Rainin-Smith as Zoe Nightshade, and Kimberley Davies voiced Alura McCall.
After its release in November 2002, the computer version of James Bond 007: Nightfire sold 230,000 copies and earned $5.3 million by August 2006 in the United States.
