Jaret Patterson is a professional football running back currently playing for the Los Angeles Chargers in the NFL. He achieved recognition during his college football career at the University at Buffalo, where he equaled the NCAA Division I FBS record for most rushing touchdowns in a single game (8). In 2018, during his freshman season, Patterson rushed for 1,013 yards and 14 touchdowns, earning him the Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year award and a spot on the All-MAC Second-team.
In 2019, Patterson set a school record with 1,799 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns, leading the MAC and ranking fifth nationally in rushing yards. He was named to the All-MAC First-team. In the 2019 Bahamas Bowl, he rushed for 173 yards and two touchdowns, earning the offensive MVP award in Buffalo's first bowl win.
On November 28, 2020, Jaret Patterson tied the FBS single-game record with eight rushing touchdowns against Kent State, finishing with 409 yards. He came close to breaking the single-game FBS record of 2014.
On May 3, 2021, Jaret Patterson signed with the Washington Football Team as an undrafted free agent.
Following his junior year, Jaret Patterson declared for the 2021 NFL draft.
In 2021, Jaret Patterson signed with the Washington Commanders as an undrafted free agent after playing college football for the Buffalo Bulls.
On August 30, 2022, Patterson was waived by the Commanders and subsequently signed to their practice squad the following day.
On January 5, 2023, Patterson was signed to the active roster of the Washington Commanders again.
On August 28, 2023, Jaret Patterson was released as part of final roster cuts before the start of the 2023 NFL season.
