Jesús Aguilar is a Venezuelan professional baseball first baseman, currently a free agent. He has played in MLB for several teams, including the Cleveland Indians, Milwaukee Brewers, Tampa Bay Rays, Miami Marlins, Baltimore Orioles, and Oakland Athletics. He also played in NPB for the Saitama Seibu Lions. Aguilar's career highlight includes being an All-Star in 2018, recognizing his strong performance that season.
On June 30, 1990, Jesús Alexander Aguilar was born. He is a Venezuelan professional baseball first baseman.
In November 2007, Aguilar signed with the Cleveland Indians as an amateur free agent.
In 2010, Aguilar split the season playing between two minor league teams.
During the 2011 season, Aguilar hit 23 home runs between the Lake County Captains and the Kinston Indians. In 2011, Aguilar was also on the Carolina Mudcats roster.
In 2012, Aguilar and Francisco Lindor represented the Indians in the All-Star Futures Game.
On November 20, 2013, Aguilar was added to the Indians' 40-man roster after a successful season with the Akron Aeros.
In 2013, the Indians invited Aguilar to spring training as a non-roster invitee.
On May 15, 2014, Aguilar was promoted to the major leagues by the Indians after batting .298 with the Columbus Clippers.
In 2015, Aguilar began the season with Columbus and was named the International League's starting first baseman in the Triple-A All-Star Game. He was promoted back to the major leagues on July 24.
In 2016, Aguilar led the International League with 30 home runs and 92 RBIs.
On January 26, 2017, the Indians designated Aguilar for assignment.
On February 2, 2017, Aguilar was claimed off waivers by the Milwaukee Brewers.
In October 2018, Aguilar won the Luis Aparicio Award, which is given annually to a Venezuelan player in Major League Baseball who is judged to have recorded the best individual performance in that year.
On July 31, 2019, the Brewers traded Aguilar to the Tampa Bay Rays in exchange for Jake Faria.
On November 27, 2019, Aguilar was designated for assignment by the Tampa Bay Rays.
On December 2, 2019, Aguilar was claimed off of waivers by the Miami Marlins.
On August 31, 2022, Aguilar signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
On September 1, 2022, Aguilar had his contract selected by the Baltimore Orioles.
On January 27, 2023, Aguilar signed a one-year contract with the Oakland Athletics.
On June 13, 2023, Aguilar signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves organization.
On December 18, 2023, Aguilar signed with the Saitama Seibu Lions of Nippon Professional Baseball.
On August 22, 2024, it was announced that Aguilar had undergone an endoscopic cleaning surgery on his right ankle and was ruled out for the remainder of the season.
