Lehi High School

Lehi High School is a public high school located in Lehi, Utah. Its mascot is the Pioneer, named Pioneer Pete, a reference to the city's founding by Mormon pioneers in 1850. The school has experienced significant growth, transitioning from a 3A to a 6A classification in recent years due to the population boom in Lehi, largely driven by the growth of the Silicon Slopes area.

1908: Lehi High School Created

In 1908, Lehi High School was established to provide more structured secondary education, in response to parents' demands. At its inception, the mascot was the Wolverine, and the school colors were blue and white.

1912: School Colors Changed

1921: New High School Constructed

In 1921, a new two-story high school was built for $92,834, which was subsequently renovated to include an auditorium. Later additions included a grandstand, an auto mechanics shop, a choral music/band room, and an office area, providing new opportunities for the students.

1925: Mascot Changed to Pelicans

In 1925, the school mascot was changed to the Pelicans due to newspaper reporters feeling that a wolverine was too violent for a high school mascot.

1934: Student Body Voted to Change Mascot

1959: New High Schools Opened

In the fall of 1959, three new high schools opened in Alpine School District including Lehi High School. The school has since been renovated to accommodate the growing student population and meet seismic requirements.

2016: Student Demographics

As of 2016, Lehi High School had a total student enrollment of 2,604. The student body was 88% Caucasian, 7% Hispanic, 1% American Indian, 1% Pacific Islander, 1% Black, and 1% Asian, with 51% male and 49% female. 16% of students came from economically disadvantaged families.

2016: School Rebuild Began

In 2016, Lehi High School began a five-year rebuild, part of a $387 million bond approved by Alpine School District residents. The construction was done in phases to accommodate students during the school year.

2016: New School Built & 6A Classification Announced

In Fall 2016, Skyridge High School was built in Northern Lehi. Later in 2016, the UHSAA announced that beginning in the 2017-2018 school year, a 6A classification would be introduced.

In 2017, Lehi was the Class 5A Champion, defeating Skyridge High School.
