Maria Farmer is an American visual artist who became a key figure in exposing the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein. In 1996, she filed the initial criminal complaint with law enforcement, detailing her and her sister Annie's experiences of sexual abuse by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. Though she shared her story with Vanity Fair in 2002, it wasn't published at the time, making her early attempts to bring Epstein to justice less visible until later investigations gained traction.
