Matt Luff is a Canadian professional ice hockey winger. Undrafted, Luff has played in the NHL for the Los Angeles Kings, Nashville Predators, Detroit Red Wings, and St. Louis Blues. He is currently with the Bridgeport Islanders of the AHL, while under contract to the New York Islanders of the NHL.
In 1987, Jimmy Carson achieved a similar feat to Matt Luff, becoming a notable Kings rookie.

In 2013, coming off a successful season with the Oakville Rangers Midget AAA, Luff split his time between the Rangers and the Oakville Blades of the Ontario Junior Hockey League for the 2013–14 season.
On June 9, 2014, Matt Luff signed a contract with the Oakville Blades for the 2014–15 season, but later committed to the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League.
On September 23, 2016, Matt Luff signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Los Angeles Kings after attending their development and training camp as a free agent. This made him the first Bulldog to sign an NHL contract.
On April 7, 2017, despite a shortened season due to a shoulder injury and concussion, Matt Luff was reassigned to the Kings' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Ontario Reign.
On November 3, 2018, Matt Luff was recalled to the NHL and made his debut with the Los Angeles Kings against the Columbus Blue Jackets, contributing to a 4-1 victory.
On February 8, 2019, after playing 30 games and recording 10 points for the Kings, Matt Luff was reassigned to the Ontario Reign.
In 2020, Matt Luff finished his time with the Los Angeles Kings organization, before signing with the Nashville Predators.
On July 28, 2021, Matt Luff signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Nashville Predators as a free agent, after five years with the Los Angeles Kings organization.
On July 13, 2022, Matt Luff signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Detroit Red Wings.
On July 1, 2023, Matt Luff signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Detroit Red Wings for another season.
On September 11, 2024, Matt Luff accepted an invitation to attend the Florida Panthers training camp on a professional tryout for the 2024–25 season.
On November 7, 2024, Matt Luff signed a one-year contract with the Springfield Thunderbirds of the AHL, after being released from his PTO with the Charlotte Checkers.
On July 1, 2025, Matt Luff continued with the St. Louis Blues organization by signing a one-year, two-way contract with the team.
On February 24, 2026, Matt Luff was traded to the New York Islanders in exchange for Julien Gauthier.
