History of NBA Play-In Tournament in Timeline
The NBA play-in tournament is a preliminary tournament held before the NBA Playoffs to determine the final two playoff seeds in each conference (East and West). Teams ranked 7th to 10th in the regular season standings compete for the 7th and 8th seed in their respective conference's playoff bracket. The NBA considers the play-in tournament separate from the main Playoffs.
