Taurus Tremani Bartlett, known professionally as Polo G, was born on January 6, 1999.
Polo G began his music career in 2018 by releasing tracks on SoundCloud and YouTube. Songs like "Gang with Me," "Welcome Back," and "Neva Cared" garnered millions of plays. He gained further recognition with the release of "Finer Things," a song written during his incarceration. In late 2018, he released "Pop Out" featuring Lil Tjay, which peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and amassed over 200 million views on YouTube, leading to a record deal with Columbia Records.

Polo G and his 16-year-old brother were arrested by the Miami Police Department on June 11, 2021, following Polo G's album release party. Polo G faced charges including battery of an officer, threatening a public servant, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. The arrest stemmed from a traffic stop due to tinted windows, and the situation escalated when police conducted a search for firearms.
On November 15, 2021, two felony charges and a misdemeanor charge for criminal mischief against Barlett were dropped due to insufficient evidence. Prosecutors agreed to drop the remaining charges if Barlett attended an anger management program.
On December 3, 2021, Polo G released "Hall of Fame 2.0," a deluxe edition of his album "Hall of Fame." The expanded album featured fourteen new tracks in addition to the original twenty and included guest appearances from Lil Baby, Moneybagg Yo, YungLiV, NLE Choppa, and Lil Tjay.

On April 9, 2022, it was reported that Barlett had completed the court-ordered anger management program. While he did not plead guilty to any wrongdoing, the remaining charges against him were dropped.

In July 2022, TMZ released police body camera footage of Barlett's arrest. The footage shows Barlett acting irate toward the arresting officers and receiving medical treatment. Polo G formally announced his forthcoming album, "Hood Poet" (abbreviated as H.O.O.D P.O.E.T., standing for "He Overcame Obstacles During Pain or Emotional Trauma"), on August 15, 2023.
On August 23, 2023, Barlett and his brother were arrested in connection to a robbery at Barlett's mansion. During the arrest, police found an illegal short-barreled rifle, leading to an additional charge against Barlett for firearm possession. Following this, they were both arrested again by the Burbank Police Department for a separate incident that occurred in April 2023 involving kidnapping, robbery, and assault with a deadly weapon charges. They were later released on $100,000 bail each.
The release of "Hood Poet" was postponed after Polo G and his brother, rapper Trench Baby, were arrested on charges of kidnapping, armed robbery, and assault. The album was initially scheduled to be released on September 15, 2023.
In November 2023, Polo G's brother, Tauren Bartlett, known professionally as Trench Baby, was charged with murder.
In early 2023, Polo G released "No Time Wasted," a collaboration with American rapper Future.
During a TMZ interview in January 2024, Polo G seemingly confirmed that his album "Hood Poet" would be released in August 2024.
