RRS Discovery

RRS Discovery, launched in 1901, was a barque-rigged auxiliary steamship constructed for Antarctic research. As the last traditional wooden three-masted ship built in the UK, it famously served as the vessel for the British National Antarctic Expedition, led by Robert Falcon Scott and Ernest Shackleton. The Discovery Expedition marked their first voyage to Antarctica and achieved significant success.
