Rancho Cucamonga

Rancho Cucamonga originated as a 13,045-acre Mexican land grant in 1839, awarded to Tiburcio Tapia by Governor Juan Bautista Alvarado. This grant encompassed portions of the modern-day cities of Rancho Cucamonga and Upland, California. The land stretched from San Antonio Creek eastward to Hermosa Avenue, and from Eighth Street to the mountains, shaping the geographical boundaries of the area.

1906: Upland Incorporation

In 1906, the northern part of George Chaffey's Ontario colony was incorporated, becoming the city of Upland.

1977: Rancho Cucamonga Incorporation

In 1977, the city of Rancho Cucamonga was formed through the incorporation of three unincorporated communities: Alta Loma, Cucamonga, and Etiwanda.
