Richard Sherman is a former American professional football cornerback renowned as one of the sport's greatest. He played college football at Stanford, transitioning from wide receiver to cornerback. Drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in 2011, he achieved remarkable success, including five Pro Bowl selections, five All-Pro honors (three first-team), and leading the NFL in interceptions in 2013. On November 25, 2012, it was reported that Richard Sherman and teammate Brandon Browner were facing four-game suspensions for violating the league's policy against performance-enhancing substances, specifically Adderall.

On July 14, 2021, Richard Sherman was arrested in Redmond, Washington, initially booked on suspicion of burglary domestic violence (later dropped). The charges were updated to include five misdemeanors. He required stitches after a police dog was deployed and was treated at a hospital before being booked into jail. Bail was denied, and the NFL opened a Domestic Violence protocol investigation.
On July 15, 2021, a King County judge ordered Richard Sherman's release on his own recognizance following his arrest the previous day.
Richard Sherman was placed back on injured reserve on January 11, 2022, with an Achilles injury, ending his season with the Buccaneers.
In March 2022, Richard Sherman pleaded guilty to first-degree negligent driving, second-degree criminal trespass, and speeding in a roadway construction zone. He was placed under court supervision for up to two years, ordered to pay $2,500 in court fees, restitution to his father-in-law and the Department of Transportation, undergo 16 hours of community service, and complete a DUI course.
