The Royals Sports Television Network (RSTN) was a regional sports network owned by the Kansas City Royals, broadcasting to a multi-state area. Launched before the 2003 MLB season due to reduced Royals game coverage by Fox Sports Midwest, RSTN faced distribution challenges with cable and satellite providers. However, a deal was struck with Fox Sports Midwest in June 2003 to redistribute most of its broadcasts. RSTN ceased operations after the 2007 season, and the Royals transitioned to Fox Sports Kansas City in 2008.

2003: RSTN Begins Operations

In 2003, the Royals Sports Television Network (RSTN) began operations before the Major League Baseball season. This was in response to Fox Sports Midwest reducing the number of Royals games it broadcast.

2005: Royals Insider wins Regional Emmy Award

In 2005, the Royals Insider weekly magazine show won a Regional Emmy Award for Best Sports Program.

2007: RSTN Ceases Operations

After the 2007 season, RSTN ceased operations. The Royals moved to Fox Sports Kansas City in 2008.

2008: Royals Move to Fox Sports Kansas City

In 2008, after RSTN ceased operations, the Kansas City Royals moved their broadcasts to the new channel Fox Sports Kansas City.
