Ruth Small Stockton was a Republican state representative for Jefferson County in the Colorado General Assembly for 24 years. Notably, she served as the Senate Majority Caucus leader from 1967 to 1968. She broke barriers as the first woman to hold the position of president pro tempore in the state from 1979 to 1980. Her contributions and achievements were recognized with her induction into the Colorado Women's Hall of Fame in 1985.
